Description

Rustler 31, GRP Bermudan Sloop,  Holman and Pye design taking after their Twister 28 design.

Long keel, underwater shape of a large Folk boat. Over the years the design has gained a reputation as a fast and safe offshore passage maker.

Many examples of type are still safely looking after their owners, all around the world.
A very practical, simple layout. Good headroom throughout. Loads of stowage space. Self draining cockpit. This example is well found.
She was fully prepped up for around UK Challenge in 2000. Present owners bought her in fine fettle in 2004.

hey have made passages over to the near continent and coastal cruises of the South and East Coast of UK.  Old Survey report from 2004.

Engine Description: Sole Mini 17 , twin cylinder diesel engine.  Electric start. 12v Battery. Gauge and ignition in the cockpit single lever controls.
Engine inboard, sited under companionway and cockpit. Installed 1992.  Last serviced October 2025
Shaft driven to a triple bladed propeller. Ronim V type Gear box
Fresh water cooled using ta heat exchanger.

Construction:

All moulded GRP. A robust lay-up.  Similar underwater shape to a large folk boat. Encapsulated lead ballast keel. The water tank built into the bilge.
Painted GRP decks with Tracmarc,  Last out of the water 2024. Re antifouled. Kept on a mud berth mooring.
An open aft self draining cockpit.  Gas locker in the lazarette in her aft deck.
Some precautionary Osmosis treatment was carried out on her. Gel coat peeled , re applied and then spray painted.

Accommodation:

 

    

     

          

Good standing 6ft headroom below. All berths 6ft 6ins. Interior is well found and well kept., curtaining at the ports. Laminated holly wood cabin sole.
Galley facility to port on entering the accommodation: Gas cooker with twin burners, oven and grill. Galley sink manual water pump , cold only. Dinner service, plates / cutlery etc.
Purpose built stowage stowage cupboards and shelving. Starboard is the Navigation station. Aft facing Navigators seat and desk / chart table.
In the Saloon there are full length settee berths with a high pipe cot up behind the starboard.  Stowage behind and underneath the settees.
Dorade ventilation vents in the cabin roof. 12 v cabin lighting. A removable drop leaf dining table can be set up in the saloon.
Under mast deck a separate “Heads” compartment Stbd with Lavac toilet and drop down wash bowl, opposite a wet gear hanging locker and stowage cupboards.
In the forepeak there are twin V berths. Escape hatch in the foredeck.

25lb CQR Anchor with 30m of chain and 30m of warp.
Lofrans manual windlass.

Canvass pram hood spray screen with clear view screen.

Sails:

Bermudan Sloop rig. Deck stepped alloy mast and boom. Spinnaker pole. Sailspar reefing system for the genoa.
Sail ties for reefing the main sail. Sail number K2307. Stainless steel standing rigging Synthetic material for the running rigging.
2 x Lewmar top action, two speed self tailing sheet winches.
Very tired blue canvas main sail cover.

 

Sail wardrobe –  Main sail, a Genoa and a spinnaker made by East Coast Sails.
A spare main sail and Genoa. All in good condition.
