Description
Domino was built in 1935 by Saunders Roe on the Isle of Wight to tow their Princess Flying Boat Fleet. Her robust hull strength in her construction of 1/2” double diagonal mahogany planking. on 1” thick carvel mahogany frames.
Domino has the potential to be used as a working tug again, the lines of this vessel are similar to a Nelson hull design. She had a predicted bollard pull of 1.25tonnes, using her Iveco124hp, inboard engine.
Her Previous owner Harry Spencer, a Yacht Rigger from Cowes, Isle of Wight. his Company refitted her in 2001. The “Works” included re-engineing her, new hydraulic steering fitted. Her keel cooling system was replaced with a heat exchanger. The deck and wheelhouse were fibre glassed sheathed and painted, the keel strengthened. She continued being a work boat / tender for the Company, until 2008.
In her present ownership she is kept on the upper reached of the Thames. Last surveyed 2022, and since the owner has worked through the surveyor’s recommendations. Re surveyed 2024.
Spent Summer of 2025 afloat on the Thames as a pleasure vessel ” Turning heads , gleaning admiration for her Classic lines and historic interest.

A semi displacement hull, a heavy robust, long keeled hull double diagonal Mahogany planking. A pair of bilge stringers as extra external rubbing topside strengthening. Paint finish to external hull.
Grey painted decks. Lines of this vessel are similar to a Nelson hull design.
Superstructure / coach roof all paint finished, Fibreglass over marine ply.
Open aft cockpit. Helm position under a shelter/weather housing, a coach roof over an open forward cabin space. Twin open settee bench berths.
