Description

Green Herring, a very eye-catching Authentic, traditional Dutch sailing barge yacht. built by Aldert Been to a Gipon design of Shocker barge. Previous owners used to trail her to the different Regattas and Races in Germany, Holland, as professional sailors.
She was brought in Holland by her present owner 8 years ago. She was in a very neglected state, bought over by lorry to the UK. Her owner has lavished much time and effort into bringing her up to the condition she is now found.
Used as a little sanctuary of peace and tranquillity on the water./ an alternative Summer house. rather than sailing.

Stainless steel fuel tank. filler in deck. 110amp heavy duty battery, in the engine compartment sited in the cockpit sole.

Construction:

   

Welded steel plate 25mm thick, rounded bow and stern. flat bottomed. Hulled  and underwater  all epoxy coated paint system. Topsides beautifully finished in gloss 2 pack paints.
Her decks, cockpit, cockpit pit furniture, lockers and superstructure all  Teak. Carved feature beams. varnished finish
Transom hung wooden rudder. Pair of wooden leeboards. Stem post extends forward of the deck, bowsprit lowers when required.
Flatbottomed, no bilge, all painted throughout.
6 portlights let in to the coach roof sides. 2 x opening. 4 x fixed.
Entrance bulkhead fitted with leaded light pane and varnished teak.  windows double entrance doors ( with lock)  a sliding hatch over.

Teak laid decks and hatches. 2 x prism deck lights let in to the foredeck. Teak laid hatch over the fore cabin.

 

  

Accommodation:

 

1.90m headroom, reduces as you go forward.
Sliding hatch over the companionway steps, immediately to port is the galley facility with a nav station opposite.
The entire accommodation cabin was professionally fitted out. Real craftsmen constructed her fitting out, fixtures and fittings.
The cabin ceiling is decked with tongue and groove teak throughout.
At the galley there are 2 x single meth burners. A stainless steel wash basin with a foot pump for the water supply, gravity drains. Purpose built stowage cupboard, waste bin and drawers for utensils.
Two large settee berths with purpose built stowage lockers behind and beneath the bunks. Upholstered berth cushioning throughout.
Through door into the forepeak. Large double berth to port. Starboard two small bunk beds.
Manual sea toilet sited in its own cabinet. forward.
Oil lamp lighting in the cabin. Hanging main lamp and gimballed bulkhead lamp. 2 x tilly lamps over the galley and in the fore cabin.
Carpet runners laid on the cabin sole, there is no bilge. Lace curtaining on brass rails inside of the portlights.

  

Recently installed a small multifuel stove with tiled mantle behind it against the forward bulkhead.
A drop leaf dining table with built in stowage.

Wooden mast and spars, all varnish finished. Mast deck stepped in a tabernacle. Galvanised bottle screws and standing rigging
Traditional block and warp for the running rigging . Varnished wooden main sheet block with synthetic sheet.
Tan Dacron main sail with rope trim. reefing points Gaff loosed footed. Fore sail with a roller reefing system it also has reefing points.
Storm Jib.
Wooden varnished bowsprit lowers from pivot point, when required.
