Description

SAMPHIRE is a charming Classic wooden Bermudan Sloop, she has very similar lines to the Blackwater Sloops. Commissioned in 1934 for a Group Captain, built and designed by the highly regarded Shipwright Mr G.E.Cardnell of Steeple (the father of the Cardnell Brothers Boatyard of Maylandsea). She was built to Lloyds A100 standard. Top specification materials. To be SOLD with her Twin axle Road Trailer .
Kept with her is a comprehensive file of documents and letters, including original design drawings and build letters, sent and received between the designer, the shipwrights and the commissioning customer.

Between 2012 -2016 ,she underwent an extensive restoration and refit, both inside and out.
Sadly, sold away from the East Coast in 2023.
She now available again to purchase, requiring a new custodian.
All the professional made coachwork berth cushions and sails are in dry store.
Vessel ashore and under cover.  She requires recommissioning.  she has stood ashore under cover for sometime.

Engine

Engine Description: A Lister Petter AC1 diesel engine 6hp. Inboard. sited internally within an engine box, on the starboard aft quarter.

Shaft driven to a single twin bladed feathering propeller. Newly installed 2018.After her major overhaul. Controls in the cockpit.

Construction:

Carvel planked mahogany planking on Oak frames. 500kg iron ballast keel. A counter stern. Underwent a total refit 2012-2016.
Hull was completely stripped out, her interior furniture and fittings all restored or rebuilt , re varnished. The exterior hull planking was burnt off and re caulked.
Decks are Pitch Pine planked covered with marine ply, epoxy sheathed and painted with nonslip paint finish.
A generous open aft cockpit with surround bench seating and lockers.
All the interior woodwork has been sympathetically restored, whilst being updated to create a surprisingly spacious interior.
She has been kept under a cover, ashore for a while.
The topsides require re-painting and antifouling, she would need time to take up again.

   Stern locker , underwater hull “AS seen in 2022” She had been out of the water for some considerable time…..

Accommodation:

The cabin has been likened to a Tardis. It has been beautifully reworked. Mostly varnished mahogany with a new panelled deck head.( minimal headroom)
She boasts a hot and cold pressurised water system, stainless steel water tank, an emersion heater, to a single wash basin in the galley area.
A single Origo single burner spirit stove All bought materials and equipment were new and went unused for several years after the overhaul.
The cabin lighting has been converted to 12v LED lights. Oil lamp
In the fore cabin a new Jabsco sea toilet, hidden away under the starboard side berth in the forepeak .

A privacy door between the cabin areas. 4 x single settee berths all of a generous length.

All new berth cushioning, professional coachworks, in blue high quality velveteen upholstery. Hatch in the foredeck.
