Description

24m  Thames Lighter hull. Static welded Steel lighter barge   24m Length    Beam 5.4m,  Draft 2ft 6inch.    Vessel to be sold as a Conversion Project.  Viewing by appointment.

This lighter was used as a Static sailing club for some years.  In 1987 it purchased and converted into a youth hostel for adventure holidays, offering accommodation for 16 young persons.

On the deck level there a large training room/ lounge/ club room/dining room. A full size commercial galley. A large Reception, Heads facility (chemical toilet).

Below Deck level  the interior and floor have been removed throughout and cleaned up.  A flat roof terrace on top.

It has the potential for a Commercial use/ Air BnB/ a substantial dwelling houseboat/ Workshop .

Construction:

A flat bottomed, welded steel hull, with a rounded bow,  flat raking swims formed both fore and aft.  A single plated skeg aft.
Last surveyed and ultrasonically tested in January 2020, previously dry docked in 2009.
There is a considerable amount of doubling up to her bottom and side plating. All bitumen coated.
Open flat steel decks, fore and aft. Swim deck attached to the aft end with ladder to water level. From Aft deck, a wooden staircase up to the flat roof level.
Portlights around the hull allow natural daylight into the lower deck accommodation.
The superstructure is an insulated steel frame with cladding on all walls ( interior and exterior)  Aluminium window frames. Large viewing windows at deck levels.
Internally, there is an institutional type of fit out throughout the vessel.  Fire doors throughout and two wooden staircases (180 degree turns).
The cabins, below deck level,  once housed 24bunk beds in 8 cabins. these have been removed, as have the sole boards throughout the bilge. (Open bilge  dry bilge)
An amount of equipment and gear, remain onboard.  Mains 240v electric and the water supply were taken from shore.

There are no ” Heads. ( chemical toilet only) .  Below decks 2 communal shower rooms, washrooms, laundry and a commercially sized galley with equipment remain.
