Description

Tyrell & Young Smack Yacht, a traditionally rigged Gaff cutter, moulded GRP hull, composite construction built in 1993. Her Lines were taken off a 1922 Shuttleworth built sailing smack SECRET.
She has been in the same ownership since 1997, regularly used for family cruising. Passages made from Isle of Wight to Milford Haven and around the Pembrokeshire Island.
She offers comfortable accommodation for two -four persons. Wheel steering from a flush deck with a deep foot well , the mast is deck stepped in a tabernacle (it lowers within her length, using the lifting bowsprit as an “A” frame.)
She has a comprehensive wardrobe of sails.
Presently out of the water under her Winter cover on, in Milford Haven. Planned to be afloat in Dale, mid May. The same engineers have maintained her for the past 27years.

Engine

Engine located in a sound proofed box, doubles as the Companionway.
Yanmar GM10, 10hp, shaft driven to a triple bladed bronze propeller, diesel engine. Fuel consumption 1 litre per hour. Raw water cooled.
Single lever Morse controls, Electric or manual start.
Last serviced October 2022.
A new head fitted in June 2021. Water pump replaced October 2020. September 2019 Stern tube assembly and cutlass bearing were replaced.  Engine mounts replaced 2014.

GRP moulded hull, decks are marine ply, with Iroko laid on top. Straight stem, counter stern. Kept with a natural finish, Blue Gel Coat hull. Flush decks, deep footwell.
Two tonnes of encapsulated lead ballast in her keel.  Marine ply epoxy coated superstructure, varnished. Opening portlights let in to the housing.
Coach roof, marine ply epoxy coated and non-slip paint.

 

Accommodation:

A single integral cabin, headroom 5ft 4ins. Twin single V berths up forward.
Heads compartment with sea toilet, a Faversham stove opposite sited under mast deck.
In the saloon two opposing settee berths, berth cushions. throughout.
inside of the companionway/ engine box. to Port the galley facility, Taylors paraffin stove, opposite small sink with manually pumped water from a flexible tank. (cold only). Plenty of stowage throughout.
Comfortable accommodation for two persons, berths for 4.  Restricted headroom of approx 5ft 4ins.
2 x Gimballed oil lamps in the saloon. Natural daylight let in through the portlights in the coach roof housing. Fore Hatch in the fore deck.

All varnished spars. Gaff, Boom, Bowsprit (lifting), Boom Crutch.
Stem head band has been replaced
new Bobstay attachment in 2019.
