Details
A small Classic Gaffer, 17ft wooden pocket cruiser with yard trailer. Restored back to sailing condition 2002 -06 . James Lawrence Sails, Re-rigged 2007/10, all new wooden spars, Long keel (filled originally with iron, now with lead). Auxiliary outboard engine Tohatsu 5hp.
Built 1920 – 30s, believed to be on the south coast of England. Photos from a previous owner of Sprite at “Burns Yard”, Bosham 1934.
Carvel wooden hull of larch on oak. Cabin believed to be added pre-war, cabin roof renewed recently, grab rails added 2016.
Can sleep 2, but has no creature comforts. Good inventory for day sailing.
Insurance survey conducted 5 April 2022 by AC Yacht & Boat Surveyors: condition “reasonable”, minor recommended works (done or in hand) and, with regular maintenance,
“the yacht may provide her owners with many years service”.
Tohatsu 5 HP 2-stroke outboard. Trailer serviceable for yard work.
Length on deck 17’, LOA (length with bowsprit) 20′, beam 6′ 6”, draught 2’9″.
Displacement tonnage stated to be 2.25 tons.

Accommodation
Forward cabin. Interior hull painted out. Varnished twin bench berths/ seating with stowage lockers beneath. Fixed coach roof with small sliding hatch.
4 x fixed portlights in the coach roof sides.
Portable water container 5ltr capacity.

Full overall Winter cover.
Canvas tent cover. A paddle and one oar (effective in light airs or downwind legs)
A twin axle, 4 wheel yard trailer.
CQR and kedge anchors.

Solid pine varnished deck stepped mast, Boom and gaff. A fixed bowsprit.
Main sail with reefing lines with cover, Tan terylene. Made by James Lawrence of Brightlingsea.
No 1 Jib. with reefing lines, Tan terylene. Made by James Lawrence.
Both sails in good condition with some wear. Minor repairs and cleaning was carried by Jeckells in February 2023.
