The Cheverton Caravelle with its distinctive, and almost iconic coach roof and traditional hull profile, depicts a classic boat design and building period. Cheetah of Barton was built in 1959 to last! She’s constructed of mahogany planking on oak and with mahogany ply decks She was maintained diligently by her previous owners and by a professional boat yard, Frank Halls & Son, in Walton on the Naze, during her 40 years of ownership.
She had then been laid up ashore for several years but kept water tight and well covered up. A new owner in 2010, assisted here and there by the boatyard, gave her a thorough face lift, overhauled the engine and restored the good condition in which she is now presented for sale. As a testament to her build quality, the timbers are still sound and well connected.
Cheetah is a capable sea-going yacht, and fit for many more years of coastal cruising, and with her shallow draft, ideal for exploring coastal inlets and rivers too. The current owner has reluctantly decided to sell Cheetah and down-size. With an attractive price tag of just £2,750, this is a good bargain opportunity to acquire a traditional timber yacht with little else to do to it, other than go sailing. She now has a July 2018 condition survey, available to view.
