Description
32ft Wooden Gaff Cutter, built 1914, A pleasure Yacht. commissioned as a “one-off ” design, elements of her similar to the King’s Lynn fishing smacks of that time. She was reported to have been a retirement gift to a boat yard foreman.
The Gaff rig was converted to Bermudan rig in the 1950’s. Then in the 1990’s she reverted and rerigged as a Traditional Gaff Cutter.
Comprehensive ownership history, records of ” Works” Old images of her sailing as a Bermudan Cutter in the 1980’s.
1993, she underwent a large refit carried out by the shipwrights/ engineers of Kings Boatyard at Pin Mill.

Construction:

Carvel planked Pitch pine planking on sawn oak frames. a long keel with both internal and external Lead ballast keel. Open aft deep cockpit.
Decks of self coloured varnished pine, caulked. Hull has a rounded stem and a counter stern. Cream painted Topsides.
All the upperworks are constructed with Columbian pine, the cabin sides and cockpit. All deck surfaces, cappings and rails are varnished.
1990 structural restoration was carried out by Kings Boatyard Pin Mill “Works ” included – new sheer strake planks, deck coverings and a cockpit rebuilt.
Additional floors were added, a section of the stem was added. and the Lead keel was re cast…
Accommodation:
Step into the accommodation, over engine box, 2 x cabins.
Galley station, with a gimballed Taylors two burner hob and oven ( paraffin), Galley sink opposite is a navigation station. with Chart space and stowage.
Saloon has opposing settee berths. Both sinks have manual pumps to extract fresh water.
Under the mast deck. “Heads”, a Simpson and Lawrence sea toilet with a slide out sink over to starboard, a Hanging locker, opposite.
Fore cabin a Double V berth, Fore hatch over.
Equipment:

Sails & Rig:
Her rig re-designed, 1990 by James Lawrence & Son from a Bermudan Cutter to a Gaff Cutter Rig.
Deck stepped mast of Douglas Fir., Painted metal tabernacle, a hollow boom, gaff and bowsprit. Oak Bitts. 6 x Bronze shroud plates, stainless steel main horse.
4 x Gibb No 8 sheet winches, Timber cleats for the use of headsails and mainsheet. Parrelle beads and mast hoops. Traditional wooden blokes and taclkle
