Description

An incomplete project, which needs a last push. Stored ashore, under covers. Owner is very keen to find someone willing and able to complete his project.
She is a Danish double ended Bermudian sloop. Built in Denmark, 1927.
Her original name, Rollo, she was rather famous, as one of the fastest in her Class.
Bought to England in 1952. registered as Saetress, Off No: 185391, Port of registry Cowes , Isle of Wight.
The lines of a Spidsgatter liken to Scandinavian fishing craft. Several different sizes of the Class were built, some rigged as Bermudian and some as Gaffers. Saetress carried a 30msq Bermudian Rig with inboard engine.
Major works carried out on her between 1988 – 90
Keel was removed, new bolts were replaced. Ribs and frames were repaired , refastened and re-caulked. She had new deck beams, a marine ply deck which was then laid. Her interior was completely refitted and the engine, replaced. Coach roofs all re covered , epoxy sheathed…..
1998 Further works were carried out: the last 2 keel bolts under the engine were replaced , new rudder pintels, etc etc.
Present owner bought her as an abandoned project. Much has been done but there is still plenty to complete her and put her back into commission.
