Description

Athena 25ft, 4T, Teak Bermudan Sloop, 1950, built as a commission to a Norman E Dalimore design No:310, she is very original in her fit out.

A reconditioned Yanmar GM10, diesel engine was installed in 2018.
She has a slight draft of 3ft which extends to nearly 6ft with the centreplate is lowered.
Open aft cockpit. A real classic, in good order.

Construction

She is carvel planked in teak on steamed oak timbers. She has a large external lead ballast keel with a bronze centreplate. She has been re-decked in the past with plywood sheathed in glass mat and epoxy resin. She has a teak sided coach roof, her deck furniture and cockpit, are teak with bronze fittings. The cockpit drains into the bilge.
The internal hull is fairly visible throughout the boat. The hull planking is teak with steamed oak or rock elm timbers, oak beams and a pine beamshelf and stringers.

There is one galvanized floor aft, all the other floors are wooden. Bronze keel bolts.

       

Accommodation:

The saloon is entered through pair of opening Teak doors and a sliding hatch over from the cockpit.
A Taylor paraffin cooker at the aft end of the saloon to port with a worktop/shelf to starboard.
Two opposing wide slatted bunk tops, with upholstery berth cushioning. Lockers behind the seat backs and trotter boxes at both berths to give full length 6ft plus.
Oil lamps attached to the bulkheads.  At the fore end of the saloon is a hanging locker with a chain locker below on the starboard side.
The foc’sle has been recently reworked with new bunks and a Blakes marine toilet.

Sails & Rig:

Varnished wooden deck stepped mast. The mast and boom are varnished Spruce. Ash spreaders. All the fittings on the mast and boom are bronze.

The boom is fitted with roller reefing. The rig was overhauled and renewed as required, by TSRigging Ltd in 2018
