Description
This is a beautiful Classic sailing yacht with a wonderful pedigree. In her early years, she was attributed to Harrison Butler, most likely mistaken for a Z4 tonner. Her design is rightly attributed to JW & A Uphams of Brixham, who developed her during and after the war from 1939. She is recognised as a prototype for the Waterbug class of yachts, which 16 were built. Similar in design to the Z4, her overall is a little longer. She has benefits from an extended a Bumkin frame which affords her to have a mainsail on standing backstays. All of which contribute to a wonderful sailing experience from another time.
Fitted a Bukh DV10, diesel engine. She makes for a very comfortable cruising boat providing accommodation for two adult berths in the saloon and two pipe cots in the fore peak. Her interior is simply panelled out in waxed timber to reflect the unvarnished teak coach roof sides with e her original bronze portholes. A small galley with a paraffin stove. An original Baby Blake sea toilet in the forepeak
She is currently ashore at Rye (near The Strand) and is available for viewing .
