Description
A prime example of these tough little GRP Gaff cutters.
Joy has undergone a massive refit which has taken two and half years.
Works carried out by Alan Staley Wooden Boatbuilder of Faversham, Kent. There’s still a little way to go for her to be fully in Commission.
She was purchased in a very poorly condition in 2020 as a Retirement project. Due to health reasons her present owner is not able to complete his project and will never take her sailing…….
She must be SOLD…..Presently, stood ashore under cover.

Engine Description: Brand new installation of a Beta Marine 16hp, twin cylinder diesel engine. Shaft driven to a triple bladed propeller.
New plastic fuel tank , new engine controls , electric start. Single lever Morse cable. Engine test run only, less than 2hours running time
Construction:
GRP Moulded Hull in 1981. Dark green gel coat.
An open deep aft self draining cockpit. Teak slatted sole boards.
GRP formed bench seating, topped in Teak and Iroko.
Encapsulated ballast, long keeled.
Decks have been renewed with Marine grade Marine ply which is then sheathed and painted in non slip cream paint.
A substantial amount of the beamshelf was replaced in fibre glass.
Rubbing bands all replaced with new Iroko and varnish finish.
New name boards on her stern.
New wooden top for the garage housing in to which slides the main hatch. A raised cabin coach roof over the saloon, fitted with fixed port lights. 2 x opening ports in the topsides.
Headroom below is restricted to 5ft 6ins less under the fore cabin.
A clear Houdini escape hatch in the foredeck.
Transom hung rudder tiller steering.
Accommodation:
The interior has been professionally refitted with Alan Staley in Faversham. Solid wood sealing and grating on the cabin sole.
Bilge all painted out. Custom built companionway steps into the cabin.
To starboard is the Galley facility.
A stainless sink with water pump in, and a manual pump for emptying the bowl, with lid over. Under a removable worksurface is a new a unused gas hob and cooker. Purpose built stowage lockers with custom made removable cutlery / utensil stowage. The gas System safety tested July 2023, un-used. Gas bottled stowed in cockpit in it own vented stowage under the starboard bench.
Berth lengths all 6ft plus….A long single pilots berth runs under the portside of the cockpit. Small dinette with solid wood table top and wooden stowage bench seating.
A custom made wine/bottle rack under the table. 1 x Gimballed oil lamp. Opposite is a short settee. Under the mast deck, a separate “Heads” compartment to port, with a manual sea toilet and a wash basin with cold water pump in and pump out, 2 x separate water tanks filled directly inside the cabin rather than deck fillers. Built in stowage for bathroom equipment.
In the forepeak, a hanging locker starboard, set to port is a large single berth with an infill which fills the whole floor area for a double berth. Large stowage lockers beneath the berth.
New berth cushions and soft furnishings required throughout the accommodation.

New stainless steel pin rails, custom built and installed.
Metal tabernacle for the deck stepped main mast.
Double metal bow roller fitting attached to her bow for the bowsprit, fixed or hauled inboard when not in use.
Main sail, white, has been valeted, a small Black and White Jib both in sail bags.
2 x New Lewmar self tailing sheet winches fitted to the cockpit sides. 2 original winches attached to the coach roof.
