Description

An Classic Bermudan centreboard sloop. Built to the exacting requirements of her original owner. Peters Boatyard were commissioned to build a 2-3 berth yacht, seaworthy for the Thames Estuary. Her first owner owned the Kursaal Fairground, Southend Seafront. Peters Boatyard looked after the rides:  Wall of Death, etc. Tregeagle was built to very exacting orders. (individual  features no longer with the vessel  included  a gimballed ashtray / a Bako light cigar box, and an oil lamp) She is only in her third ownership, in 70 years……In 1999 /2000 she underwent a major professional refit. All the keel bolts were replaced, a new centreboard casing was fitted. At this time, she also had a new Beta Marine engine, gearbox and stern gear installed. Spent this Summer being refitted and will remain ashore for the Winter.  She will be undercover once the routine Seasonal maintenance is completed. (Mast un stepped and requires refurbishing.)

A 10hp Beta Marine diesel engine, fresh water cooled, TMC 2:1 gearbox
Shaft driven, stern gear, a triple bladed propeller. Engine spares, sited under the cockpit sole.
The engine was fitted with a new heat exchanger from Beta in 2023.

Construction:

Thick carvel Mahogany topsides,  Larch below the water line Elm sawn frames interspersed with steamed frames. Long keel of lead external ballast.

A steel cased centreboard box sited below the cabin sole under the bridge deck at the cabin entrance.
She has laid decks Cabin top: West epoxy sheathed and painted.
An open aft cockpit, opposing bench stowage bins.
A sliding hatch over the companionway, set of double doors. Fore hatch in foredeck. Opening bronze ports set into the coach roof.
Bronze deck vents. Transom hung rudder with tiller steering

Accommodation:

Two opposing settee bunk berths full length of the cabin. and generous width,  Privacy door into the forepeak. Baby Blake Heads.
Companionway step in, starboard purpose built glass / crockery and stowage. Port side is the galley facility with a double burner spirit stove .
A removable table stands on the centreline of the cabin when required.

CQR anchor on 25fathoms of chain.  A fisherman’s kedge with 20 fathoms of rope. Fenders and warps
A green canvas fitted cockpit cover. Boat hook. Ensign, staff and holder.

Sails:

A Bermudan Sloop Rig. Varnished Spruce spars mast and boom. The mast, deck mounted in a tabernacle. ( mast un stepped requires renovation revarnishing.
A Cranfield mainsail, a green canvas Mainsail cover. by Cranfield 1988, A Longton & Gray Genoa, a working jib which was modified in 2005 for the Furling system.
A Sail spar furling gear fitted new 2005. A storm jib and a spinnaker (never used)
