Description
A Classic Alan Buchanan Masthead Sloop, a “Norman” Class, built to Lloyds A-100 standard at the St Osyths Boatyard, Essex, 1962.
Name: MAREN
Vessel present condition: excellent but unfinished.
A long restoration started 2008 at St Osyth Boatyard, Essex where she had been built by Shipwright Denis Barnes in 1962.
A new mast and boom were commissioned from Collars, working from the original Buchanan spar and sail plan drawings.
(The old aluminium mast and original roller furling boom are included in the sale, should they be wanted).
The new spars are being stored with Collars, to date. There are several sails included, she will require new standing rigging.
An overhauled 18hp Volvo twin cylinder diesel engine has been installed, complete with new feathering Darglow propeller and shaft.
There is a large amount of safety gear, navigation gear included with her. All dry stored in the boat shed with the vessel.
She requires an internal refit. All the domestic services, systems fixtures and fittings need to be re-commissioned and installed.
Her present owner bought her as an incomplete restoration project 18months ago.
After adding a substantial amount of money, time and labour into her, he feels the end is insight for any further financial commitment from
himself in order to get her completed and back on the water. A new Custodian is now being sought.
